Google recently shared details about the new contextual search feature launched throughout the year that helps searchers search for what they are looking for. In simple terms, Google is giving us more contexts with newer contextual search features.

Google announced this around Thanksgiving eve, which is timely in that sense, but these features have rolled out slowly throughout the year or so.

Recommendation based on recent activity

In May 2020, Google has said:” can determine that you’re looking to learn more about preparing and serving a turkey and we’ll provide you with a helpful suggestion at the top of your search results page to get you to what you were looking for.” As your previous search was related to turkey, Google will recommend that with a few additions to the search results:

If you have recently searched for “turkey recipe” then next time you search in Google “carving” you will get a suggestion below as “carving turkey”. And you will able to see that suggestion as suggested based on recent activity.

Related to carousel

Even related to the carousel is also not new, but Google has recently talked about it publicly. Google defines it as “new language understanding” to be able to offer a related carousel that combines two recent searches to suggest more ideas.

For Instance:

If you have recently searched for “polar express” and thereafter, search for “a Christmas story” of new ideas based on your two recent searches. Google combines these two recent searches to help you with new ideas to provide you with specific results.

People also ask

People aren’t interested to know about the newcontextual search feature, but instead, they want to understand what Google is doing inside of it to get an idea to know the context of your searches is amazing. Google said “before introducing these features”, if you had searched for “how to make a napkin fan,” Google might have helped you get additional information by suggesting you a similar question like “How do you make a cone napkin?” But now, Google “can help you with more relevant questions in the “People also ask” section, like “How do you make a turkey out of a cloth napkin?” Thereafter if you search for turkey recipes your search results will also be upgraded, and you will find more relevant follow-ups faster and up-level your Thanksgiving tablespace.
